As of 8 am Thursday, we were chugging past Los Angeles. It is a gray and foggy day, but the good news is that I have finally figured out the ship’s internet (hopefully)….here is the post I wrote Thursday night….
The Insignia pulled away from San Francisco at exactly 5:00pm. Here are some shots I took from our balcony before the cold (58 degrees) drove me inside. We will spend two full days at sea before arriving at Cabo San Lucas to see their famous arches and seals. Both days can be as scheduled, or not, as we prefer. It’s most likely that I will attend a couple of shipboard lectures, read and do nothing.

Dinner tonight in the Italian restaurant brought three couples together who had never met. Very quickly, all six agreed on all the major political issues. The Australian couple was really struggling with the whys of white nationalism and gun ownership, urging we Americans to understand that “The world needs the US to be stable.” Note: there are many Australians on board. We have now met several, each of whom has said with great concern “we just don’t understand what is happening in America? Why does everyone have a gun?”

Love this post. I can’t believe how close the windsurfer was, wow!
I agree with the Australians. Our country is kind of a mess. It’s very sad.
The unscheduled days at sea sound lovely (well, for you…. I’d just take the unscheduled days without the at sea part!), enjoy the time!
